Hi! My name is Leigh, please take a seat and I’ll tell you a little about me.
OK, well I’m 31, Welsh and I’m a commercial LAMP developer (that is; Linux, Apache, mySQL & PHP,) who works in Insurance.
I used to be a web designer, i created and maintained a quite popular emulation news site around the .com boom of the late nineties/early naughts and went on to work on a few different gaming sites as a reviewer back before everyone with an opinion could click a button and have a free blog to rant on.
Anyway, real-life caught up with me and i went and did other things. Coming back into development, i found i no longer wanted to be a hobbyist web designer or reviewer, but i did still want to program. As a teen, and perhaps a little earlier, i wanted to make games, i started on my ZX Spectrum and continued to dabble on the Amiga 500 in AMOS, but never actually managed to get my act together and do something about it, well, it was about time i changed that.
Long story short (too late?) I’m now learning to make games in C++ with SDL and I’m documenting it all on this blog. I welcome advice and comments, so please get in touch if you like!
Hopefully other new starters will maybe find something useful, or just find what i have to say entertaining in someway.
